About the Author
Dr. Robert (Bob) Stone is a pilot for a major airline and a chaplain serving part-time in the U.S. Air Force. For over 10 years, he has had the opportunity to lead conferences to prepare military families for the stress of long-term military deployments.
These experiences inspired him to complete a doctoral degree with a 232-page thesis on the topic of “Strengthening Family Resiliency Among Military Pilots.” This thesis led to the creation of a booklet titled, “A Pilot’s Guide to Family Resiliency” which can be found on the Practical Advice tab of the Pilots for Families website.
Bob flew an airplane for the first time at the age of two and has loved being in the sky ever since. He began his career as an instructor pilot at a large aviation university and then spent 12 years flying for a regional airline. Transitioning to corporate aviation, he was a simulator and ground school instructor pilot and then a demonstration pilot for an aircraft manufacturer. Currently, he is a pilot for a major airline flying the Airbus 319/320/321.
Bob is married to his amazing wife, Sarah. They have two boys, Jack and William, and live in Orlando, Florida.
